Selásskóli marks 40th anniversary with a spectacular harvest festival

 

Last Thursday, Selásskóli buzzed with excitement as a week of themed activities wrapped up with an open house and milestone anniversary celebration. It was a truly special occasion, as this year marks 40 years since school operations began in the Selás neighborhood. This year's themed days honored the milestone by highlighting the school's history and the rapid changes the community has seen over the past four decades.

The planning for the event took an unconventional approach, grouping students across grade levels rather than in their usual classes. This setup gave students the chance to connect and collaborate on a diverse array of projects. During Thursday's open house from 2 to 4 p.m., visitors explored the results of this teamwork alongside various other winter term projects.

The celebration proved to be a true community event, and we were delighted to see so many people visit the school. We welcomed a fantastic mix of guests, including current students, parents, and grandparents. Seeing former students and staff return to their old school to celebrate with us was particularly rewarding. Ultimately, the themed days and anniversary celebration were a resounding success, perfectly reflecting our pride in the work happening at Selásskóli.
